The Mindful Living Course
About the course
There are eight sessions plus a half day retreat.
Each session contains teaching and practice
- At the end of each session you will receive a course booklet. Eight booklets in total and each one is in an A5 format with 16 pages. It means that you don't have to take any notes.
- You'll also receive audio recordings of music and meditation practice so that you can practice between sessions.
- Your tutor is available each week by arrangement to help you with your practice should you need it and to answer any questions that might arise.

Once you have completed the course in full, you can repeat the course at any time in the future also free of charge but without the expenses as you will already have all the materials i.e. booklets, recordings etc.

We have been providing training in Mindfulness since 2018. Some have been held at our Mindfulness Centre in Elms Green, some in village halls and one in a church hall. They have been well subscribed.
Mindfulness Course Agenda
Each Unit takes two hours and also includes practical work.
Unit 1: Introduction:
Nature of Mindfulness. Evidence of its efficacy. Simple Practice Technique
Unit 2: Habits of Thinking:
Anxiety. The Need to be Right. Fear of change. Fearing What Other People Think About Us
Unit 3: Key Concepts of Mindfulness:
Living in the Present Moment, Awareness. Being Non-judgmental
Unit 4: Mindfulness and Suffering:
Anxiety, Worry and Stress. Being Haunted by Past Events. False Concepts of Time. Being Controlled by the Mind
Unit 5: The Nature of Suffering:
A Buddhist perspective on suffering: the four noble Truths. The 8-fold Path to overcome Suffering -specifically Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration etc. The Five Mindfulness Trainings as taught at Plum Village.
Unit 6: Mindfulness: Setting Boundaries:
Effect of Poorly Defined Boundaries. Setting Boundaries. Dealing with Conflict and Bullying
Unit 7: Mindfulness and The Imagination:
Sleepless Nights. Wild Imaginings. Negative and Positive Uses of the Imagination. Body and Mind are One
Unit 8: Mindfulness in Daily Life:
Awareness and Remaining Awake. Mindful Meditation Methods. A Plan for the future. Course Conclusion
Half Day Retreat
The retreat is in a format that you can use on a daily basis in the future.
